Working in the RKU
Basic education, further training and education
Basic education as well as further training and education are of great importance to the RKU. Department-related training and development plans are created on a yearly basis. For this purpose, budgets are specified for certain areas. The future quality requirements and Further training and education focus on the three main elements as follows:
- Company-related training measures being of compulsory necessity to the operational procedures (e.g. new surgery techniques, EDP courses, etc.)
- Company-related and staff-specific interests Further training and education measures (e.g. kinaesthetics courses, ward management courses, technical further training intensive care/ anaesthesia) which are required for the operational procedures and which play a vital role in the career management of the respective single member of staff.
- Staff-related interests: Branches of study being to the fore of the member of staff concerned.
When participating in further training and education measures which do also imply corporate interests the RKU personnel is awarded clearly defined services on the basis of a company agreement. With regards to the time off, seniority is rewarded (the higher the period of employment, the more release days are granted).
- Period of employment of up to 4 years: 2 working days
- Period of employment of up to 8 years: 3 working days
- Period of employment of more than 8 years: 4 working days
There are internal as well external training and development plans in place for all occupational groups which are doing further training or education at the RKU. These plans are then taken to qualify and specify the personnel. Performance reviews are done by means of tests at clearly defined points of time, with in-house controls being performed by superiors and external reviews held by senior institutions. Further training and education of orthopaedic medical assistants in their orthopaedic specialist education, for example, is geared to a sophistcated advanced training scheme which particularly specifies prerequisites as well as stage and final targets, closing with a performance check to be externally executed (specialist examination).
The section head, responsible for in-house training, plans and coordinates training courses and advanced training measures for the care section, always in accordance the strategic planning of Care Management and the other occupational groups. There are numerous courses in which outsiders are invited to participate as well.
