Nursing principles
Our nursing principles are immediately based on the RKU's guiding ideas. They define a set of fundamental nursing rules as practiced by the RKU.
1. Health care and nursing at the RKU are entirely focussed around the patient and his or her individual personality.
We discover and explore the patients' needs and respect their and their families' decisions. We promote the responsibility patients have for themselves.
2. The RKU views health care and nursing as a professional service to people.
Our nursing staff determine the amount and type of nursing needed, specify nursing targets and plan the actions required to reach these targets. They verify results and adapt their plans at regular intervals.
3. The RKU provides patients with top-level quality in health care and nursing.
Appropriate instruments and methods are applied to continuously assure and improve quality. The nursing process and its documentation are the central aspects.
4. Incessantly learning is the means by which the RKU further develops its health care and nursing.
Further training and support are entirely focussed on every individual nurse. Nursing advisors and practical instructors support and supervise the contents of further training immediately at the patient's bed.
Taking available resources into account, they will integrate new methods and technologies based on scientific knowledge and practical experience.
5. Health care and nursing communicate with all RKU divisions.
As a learning and developing organisation, we are dedicated to open and constructive interchange with all professionals involved to support and promote the different processes.
