The word ergotherapy is derived from the Greek word "ergon" which means as much as to do, work, act. This name exactly describes the ergotherapeutic focus, i.e. action and doing.
Ergotherapy aims at restoring or supporting physical, psychological or cognitive functions a patient may have lost or never have had. Patients are helped with recovering a very autonomous and independent daily life in their personal and occupational environment.
RKU's ergotherapy department ploughs the following fields:
- Clinic for physical and rehabilitation medicine
- Orthopaedic clinic and paraplegic centre
- Neurological clinic
- Care and cure for all outpatients
