Treatment alternatives
The offering of the Physical Therapy Department includes very varied types of massage:
- Classical massage
- Connective tissue massage
- Hydromassage
- Foot reflex zone massage
The stimulating effect of electric current loosens up the muscles, improves the blood flow, and alleviates pain. The RKU's Physical Therapy Department deploys all types of current used for electrotherapy:
- Low-frequency currents (diadynamic currents, ultra-stimulating currents, high-voltage currents)
- Medium-frequency currents (interference current)
- Ultrasound
- Ultrasound combined with other types of current
- Hydroelectric bath
Other methods include thermal packs (mudpacks)/Hot Wrap and various frio-methods as appropriate.
Post-surgery congestions (TEP of hip or knee) and lymphedemae are treated using manual lymphatic drainage in conjunction with complex physical lymphatic drainage.
Penzel's acupuncture point massage (APM) affects the flow of energy through the entire body applied either as meridian or dedicated point treatment compliant to the rules of energy balance. It is applied to all diseases on the WHO's acupuncture indicators list.
