Orthopaedics

In addition to taking care of our patients, the orthopaedic clinic, in its function as orthopaedic clinic of the university Ulm, is responsible for research and teaching of the subject orthopaedics.

The section bio-chemistry of illnesses of the joints and the connective tissue with a professor's chair donated by the company Merckle-Ratiopharm in 1998 is part of the field of research of the orthopaedic university clinic.

The centre of attention of our research activities is basic research in the fields

• degenerative illnesses of joints
• arthrosis

Clinical priorities are situated in the fields:

• development and clinical tests of computer-assisted surgery methods (navigation)
• in the field of endoprothetics and spine surgery
• analyses for the observation of the acceptance behavior and loosening diagnostics of endoprotheses of the hips
